Doing the run!

I hated sports. In fact I hated any form of activity that needed physical agility, aggression and competition. I can't remember how long I have been this way. The sports day during school was uneventful. My javelins used to fall flat. My short-puts drops right below my nose and the PT teacher says 'position change' even before I start serving during throw ball.
But I was always there. Never bunked a PT class ever. I would stand in awe and watching my friends win medals after medals. I would cheer for the house till I went out of breath.. And I knew it, long before anyone could. I just didn't have it in me!
And then, one fine day, I wanted to know, how it felt like to run. And what propels me to this drastic step? My ever increasing waist line!

It was a stray poster that announced about a 3 km fun run for cancer awareness. I got hold of a buddy (who was also a first timer like me) and went for the kill!

It was a morning run. 5 am's are unusual hours for the late ri…

The Shortest Stories - Season 1

'The Shortest Stories' is a naive attempt inspired by the 140 character short story series.

When I became a cover girl :)

Yes, that's me you see on the cover of that magazine..Wait before you drop that jaw - drop it for Seematti and the brand master Beena Kannan. The mastermind behind this brilliant market outreach campaign,

Well, it all started with inviting applicants for a makeover session. It looked harmless to me; if I get lucky, I get a free makeover. That's the deal. Easy Peasy. So off I go!
A week later, I receive a call from the Seematti, asking if I received a copy of the magazine. And then, this little surprise reaches by courier to my address, lo and behold, I find myself on the cover page of Seematti Ensemble - A fashion magazine featuring a fashion shows, some glitz, and some bling here and there.
It turns out, photographs of all shortlisted applicants - (Don't ask me the criteria) were printed as a cover page and have them couriered to them. Am no aspiring model, but trust me, It did feel great to have my face out there.
Call it people connect, brand connect and all that marke…

Going mangoes!

What is common during summers, colored bright yellow, bleeds sweet honey with a velvety smooth finish. Mangoes!

Nature has a way of invoking passion in the strangest ways. The ripe yellow tender mangoes at the road side stalls, the glazed cut fruit on life size hoardings, TV commercials with Katrina Kaif and a mango involved in a sensuous act! The lucky mango!

This marvelous fruit is everywhere. Teasing, tempting and inching you towards a guilty pleasure. Only to hope it wouldn't add layers of adipose to my imperfections.

Last summer, took me on a mango-licious ride, a challenge featuring 10 dishes with mangoes. This was my defense to mounting temperatures, constant power cuts and water crisis.

Dedicated to all mango lovers out there, this post features recipes tried and tested successfully in my kitchen. The pictures are mine and the recipe courtesies listed from food bloggers from across the world.

My home. My habitat.

I was never a home bird. I loved being outdoors, free and boundless. Being home was claustrophobic and my nomadic career never made it any better.

And then a miracle happened. After a series of life changing decisions (Finding my man, leaving my job and getting hitched), I moved into my all time favorite city - Chennai. In no time, I was setting up a home for the first time. My own space, my habitat, an ecosystem I created for myself. It was love at first sight.

Time was in plenty. And then I let go. Splashes of color everywhere, paintings and DIY arts filled every wall. The beautiful morning rays entered my living room leaving the lovely green patch on my balcony glistening in the sun. It looked divine. That very moment, I realized I had truly created my space called home.

Clocks were born from cardboard (mechanism and design by the talented husband), DIY wall arts from tissue and plywood, a feng shui compliant table top water fountain, a center piece for the teapoy, re-used plastic…
